Paris, France – Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile touched down in Paris, the capital city of the Republic of France, on the morning of Monday, 19 May 2025, for a Working Visit aimed at strengthening South Africa’s diplomatic and economic ties with France.
The visit seeks to reinforce the historic and cordial bilateral relations between South Africa and France by building on existing cooperation projects and exploring new areas of partnership. Key focus areas include trade and investment, which are central to advancing South Africa’s economic development goals.
During his visit, Deputy President Mashatile will participate in the South Africa–France Investment Conference. This strategic platform will focus on deepening collaboration in several sectors, including infrastructure development, science, technology and innovation, education and skills development, as well as enhancing people-to-people relations.
The conference will also seek to boost tourism from France to South Africa, tapping into the strong cultural and social bonds between the two nations.
Upon arrival in Paris, Deputy President Mashatile was warmly welcomed by South Africa’s Ambassador to France, Mr Nathi Mthethwa.
The Deputy President’s Working Visit is expected to bolster South Africa’s international partnerships and contribute meaningfully to the country’s investment drive and post-pandemic economic recovery.
