CHINTSA, EASTERN CAPE – Chintsa is ready to host the 2nd Annual Wild Coast Cap Classique Festival, a premier event celebrating South Africa’s finest Method Cap Classique sparkling wine, on 30 August 2025 at the breathtaking Birkview Lodge in Chintsa.
The festival promises to be an elegant affair, with guests promised to enjoy tastings from a curated selection of leading Cap Classique houses coordinated by the Meridian Wine Distributors, including Simonsig, Pierre Jourdan, De Grendel, Stellenrust, Ken Forrester and Zardetto from Italy.The event will also feature live music from a lineup of local and national artists, gourmet food pairings, and a relaxed atmosphere that showcases the unique charm of the Wild Coast and an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products to our clientele.
South African Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, the legendary Vusi Mahlesela, will headline the event. He will be joined by a stellar line-up that includes Ngqeleni-born Afro-soul sensation Ikhona, Ncumisa Garishe, and jazz artist Natalia Rungan. The event will also feature performances by gospel music DJ Groovie Christ and Dj Welo.

Event project manager Sinethemba Gayiza commented on the state of readiness, “We are excited to confirm that all preparations are on schedule, and the venue is being transformed into a stunning festival ground. We are ready to welcome champagne lovers from across the province. We are taking every measure to ensure the event meets the highest standards of safety and hospitality.” Music is a vital part of the festival’s experience. Our goal is to create an atmosphere that complements the elegance of Cap Classique. The curated music lineup features a mix of well-known and emerging artists whose sounds will provide the perfect backdrop for a day of celebration.

Mnqandi said this year’s theme is ‘Champagne Hues’ a “choice voted for patrons of the festival via social media platforms” and a testament to the existence of a market for bubbly enthusiasts in the province.
