The Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) took to the bustling streets of Vincent, East London, yesterday morning to spread awareness ahead of the State of the Nation Address (SONA). Encouraging locals to tune in, GCIS highlighted the importance of watching President Cyril Ramaphosa’s address on today the February 6, 2025, at 19:00.
GCIS officials engaged with over 800 motorists at one of the busiest intersections in East London. They distributed government pamphlets containing crucial information about the upcoming SONA, as well as key insights into the G20 summit.

Provincial Director of GCIS, Mr. Ndlelantle Pinyana, actively participated in the awareness campaign. He stressed the extensive reach of GCIS, saying, “GCIS is all over this province, it is all over the country. You will see us at taxi ranks and in the streets, just like we are here at this corner, ensuring that this State of the Nation Address is a unique one.”

Mr. Pinyana also emphasized the importance of the youth’s involvement in the SONA, stating that it is vital for them to understand the issues affecting the country’s future. “We would really like younger people to watch the SONA because they are the future of this country. There will be much said about young people, especially concerning youth unemployment, which is not only a concern in South Africa but a global issue. Interventions are coming, and the President will table some solutions going forward.”
GCIS continues its campaign across the country, ensuring South Africans stay informed about the nation’s leadership and the policies that will shape their future.
