JOHANNESBURG – In a landmark move to fuel inclusive growth in South Africa’s tech ecosystem, Samsung, in collaboration with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC), has officially launched the third call for its Equity Equivalent Investment Programme (EEIP). This flagship initiative, aimed at empowering black-owned ICT and Service Centre SMMEs, is now accepting applications for the 2025 intake.

With a committed investment of R280 million, the EEIP has already made significant strides since its inception in 2019. The programme supports black-owned enterprises with enterprise development resources, strategic business skills training, market access, and guidance towards long-term sustainability.

Now in its third phase, the EEIP’s impact is undeniable. Dozens of small and medium-sized tech businesses across South Africa have seen their operational capacities grow, their workforce expand, and their competitive edge sharpen in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

“This is more than just enterprise development,” said a Samsung spokesperson. “It is a deliberate and strategic intervention designed to shift the trajectory of black-owned ICT businesses. We’re not just nurturing innovation—we’re investing in the future of our economy.”

The initiative aligns closely with South Africa’s Vision 2030 and National Development Plan (NDP), echoing national priorities around inclusive economic participation and sustainable job creation. Through EEIP, Samsung is demonstrating what meaningful corporate citizenship looks like in the context of South Africa’s transformation agenda.

Call for Applications Now Open

Samsung and DTIC are calling on eligible black-owned ICT and Service Centre SMMEs to submit their applications for the 2025 cycle. Successful applicants will benefit from a holistic support model that includes business mentorship, capacity building, and exposure to potential customers and partners—both within Samsung’s ecosystem and beyond.

For SMMEs ready to take their business to the next level, this is a unique opportunity to tap into a programme with a proven track record of real, measurable impact.

As South Africa navigates the path to digital transformation, Samsung’s EEIP stands out as a compelling example of how the private sector can drive meaningful socio-economic change.

For those interested in seizing this opportunity to propel their businesses into new horizons, additional information on how to apply can be found at www.samsung.com/za/local-programme/ed-programme/.
